El Kurru has 10 Royal pyramids and 14 Queens’ pyramids. The first kings of the 25th Dynasty Piye, Shabako, Shabatko and Tanutamun are amongst them. Piye’s tomb had a corbelled roof, and now lies open. The pyramid structures of all but one unnamed king were removed. Tanutamun’s tomb and one other have highly decorated burial chambers. To the North East was found a cemetery for horses and dogs. The continued protection of the site is needed, with the opening of a few additional tombs and some site information.
